Mr Atul Kumar Rai Mr Atul Kumar Rai

Mr Atul Kumar Rai is the CEO and MD of IFCI since July, 2007. Before joining IFCI, Mr Rai has worked for over 20 years in various positions in the Government of India (GoI). His assignments have involved a diverse range of activities from hands-on management, to regulation, and finally to the most abstract level of formulating policy.

An Honours graduate in Economics from University of Delhi, Mr Rai also holds a postgraduate qualification in Economics from Jawahar Lal Nehru University. He started his career in Forward Markets Commission in 1987 where he worked for four years in development of forward and futures trading and setting up of new commodity exchanges. Between 1991 and 1993, Mr Rai worked on policy making in the Planning Commission. His presence in the Ministry of Industry from 1993 - 1996 coincided with the dismantling of industrial licensing regime and sweeping tax reforms, both of which happened to fall in his domain. Between 1997 and 2002, the Delhi Development Authority had him handling management in a field organisation. In 2002, he joined the Banking Division as a Director managing ownership matters of Government sponsored financial institutions. During this period, Mr Rai set up two institutions, namely, India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd. (IIFCL), launched with much fanfare in January 2006, and SASF in 2004, a less heard of SPV which manages the bad debts of IDBI Ltd.

He continued as a Director at IIFCL in executive capacity until he joined IFCI. In the interim, he was Chairman of Dena Bank’s Board for a short and dynamic time in that Bank’s history. He was a Director for three years on the Board of Vijaya Bank, IIBI and IIFCL, with a total balance sheet size in excess of Rs.80,000 crore.

Mr Rai is currently on the Board of Directors of  IFCI Venture Capital Funds Ltd., Assets Care Enterprise Ltd., Marck Biosciences Ltd., MCX Stock Exchange Ltd, IFCI Infrastructure Development Ltd , I-FIN, IFCI Factors Ltd., Management Development Institute and Institute of Leadership Development. He is also on the Governing Board of Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi.

Mr Prakash P Mallya is former Chairman & Managing Director of Vijaya Bank. He is a Post graduate in Economics and a banker by profession. He has experience of over than 34 years in the banking sector.Mr Mallyahas attained remarkable achievements in the business arena and has made various valuable contributions to research work in the area of Economics. He has achieved many prestigious awards for excellence in thebanking sector. Presently he is a director on the Board of Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd, Falcon Tyres Ltd and Bank of India.

Mr K V Eapen, IAS, Joint Secretary(BA), Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India is a Government Nominee Director on the Board of IFCI Ltd. His academic qualifications include a M.Sc. (Macro Economic Policy & Planning in Developing Countries) from the University of Bradford, UK, a Masters in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from MDI, Gurgaon.  He is also  on the Board of Union Bank of India.

Mr Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, Government of India is the Government Nominee Director on the Board of IFCI. His academic qualifications include Masters in Program on International Development Policy from Duke University, USA, MBA with specialization in Finance from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He is on the Board of Directors of United Bank of India, Irrigation & Water Resources Finance Corporation Ltd and Tourism Finance Corporation of India Ltd.

Mr Shilabhadra  Banerjee is a Masters in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. He began his  career in the Indian Administrative  Services  in  1971 from the Andhra Pradesh Cadre. In a career spanning over 37 years, he  has  held  several eminent positions including that  of  Joint  Secretary  in  the  Ministries of Petroleum  &  Natural  Gas  and Urban Development. He was Director General (Acquisition) in the Ministry  of  Defence  and  retired  as Secretary, Ministry  of  Tourism  in  October  2008. Mr Banerjee  spearheaded   the  infrastructure  upgradation  at important tourist destinations in India and played a  key  role  in  articulating India's response to climate  change  issues  relating  to  the tourism sector.

He received a  Post  Graduate  Diploma in Public Administration from the Indian Institute of Public Administration,  New  Delhi in 1992 and an M. Phil degree  in  Social Sciences from the University of Panjab the same year. Mr. Banerjee has been a Visiting Fellow at the Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford,  U.K.  and the National Institute of Urban Affairs,  New Delhi. He is a director on the board of ITC.

Mr P G Muralidharan retired as Secretary to Government of India after working in  Ministries/Departments in the Central and State Governments including Finance, Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Planning and as Chairman/Director of  various Central/State public sector undertakings. He is on the Board of Directors of Religare Asset Management Company Limited.
 
Ms Usha Sangwan
 
Ms Usha Sangwan, Executive Director of Life Insurance Corporation holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Panjab University, Licentiate from Insurance Institute of India and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. Along with varied experience of Housing Finance, Pension & Group Superannuation and almost all aspects of core business of LIC, she has also operated at Branch, Divisional, Zonal and Corporate level. She has been exposed to various prestigious training programmes in India and abroad. Prominent among them being Marketing Strategies at ISB-Hyderabad, Transformational Leadership at IIM-Lucknow and HR as Business Strategy at Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.

Mr Tejinder Singh Laschar is a post Graduate in Economics and Commerce and has a Diploma in Development policy from University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK. He is from the cadre of Indian Economic Service and has served as a Senior Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India and is having more than 33 year of experience. He has held various positions in the past as Assistant Economic Advisor, Senior Research Officer, Consultant, Joint Director, Director and Economic Advisor in various ministries of Govt. of India and has been a Director on the various PSU/Companies in the past. He has specialized in the areas of financial restructuring of Companies, Capital and debt markets, Fertilizers production, Pricing, imports, Foreign Direct Investment, Whole sale Price Index and Index of Industrial Production. Presently he is a member of Task Force in Department of Public Enterprises, Govt. of India and member of the group on prime contracting model on Industry stakeholders interface on scaling up skill Development Programme for Rural Below Poverty line. He is also a director on the Board of PNB Housing Finance Ltd. and Shinsei Trustee Co.(I) Pvt. Ltd.

He has served in various committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Presently he is Member of the Committee on Trade Laws and WTO of ICAI, New Delhi. Mr Pasha is the  Proprietor of K  Rahman Khan & Co., Chartered Accountants. He has served as a Director on the Board of Canara Bank from 2005-06 to 2007-08. Presently he is serving second term as a Director on the Board of Canara Bank. He has also been involved in  various social activities and is Member and Office Bearer of many social organizations.He is also on the Board of Bonanza Portfolio Ltd.

Prof Omprakash Mishra is Professor of International Relations at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Earlier, he served as the Pro- Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and as Member, National Security Advisory Board, Government of India. An alumni of North Bengal University and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof Mishra has served as the Head of the Department of International Relations and as Founder Coordinator of Centre for Refugee Studies at Jadavpur University. He is Member Secretary, Global India Foundation, a not for profit think tank on international affairs and public policy. He serves various committees, expert group and is regularly consulted on policy and governance issues by a number of government departments, academic and research institutes in the country and abroad.

 Mr Sujit K Mandal, Whole Time Director is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur and is post graduate in Business Management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has rich experience of more than 36 years of Industrial / Corporate Finance spanning nearly all aspects of management in the Industrial and Financial Sectors. He has vast experience in the areas of Project, Production Operations Management and Corporate Planning in reputed Engineering Industries and developed expertise in Project Finance, Product Development, Corporate Advisory, Project Development, NPA Management, Policy Formulations, Strategic Management and Corporate Planning and Turn around Strategy etc. Presently he is Director on the Board of  Tourism Finance Corporation of India Ltd., Foremost Factors Ltd, IFCI Financial Services Ltd, IFCI Venture Capital Funds Ltd and Management Development Institute
